“Be The Starting Point” – ZotheJerk
Summer releases get music fans hype, and there happens to be a new Hip-Hop album on the edge of dropping. ZotheJerk & Frost Gamble are going to release Black Beach. I took some time to speak with ZotheJerk, and by the sound of it, we can expect a modern Hip-Hop record that is woven from genuine artistry with a politically-driven backdrop.
“Transition allowed me to see different levels of community…showing young boys the glimpse of a man.” – ZoetheJerk
ZotheJerk was born and raised in the belly of Detroit, which serves as a prominent source of musical and personal inspiration. Since then, he has grown into a musically honest rapper with a strong sense of authenticity and a humble approach to his craft. The synergy between his environment and upbringing sparked his passion for community. In 2014, he received a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for his contributions. Prior to relocating to Ohio, he kick-started his rapping career rapping on a block surrounded by “a melting pot” of influence.
He is fully present and aware of today’s sociopolitical canvas and the players fighting for the palette. Black Beach peeks into the pandora’s box of “Black America”. The album features several other artists, including Boldy James & Young Bleed, KXNG Crooked, Sadat-X, and Guilty Simpson. The album is produced by Frost Gamble and will be released under 22 Entertainment on May 26th.
